COVID-19 Policy

To our Valued Patients,

COVID-19 has been a very difficult time for all of us. Many of you have been forced to wait for dental care, and we deeply appreciate your understanding while we kept our office closed to help control the spread of COVID-19. We ask for your continued patience as we schedule our patients who have been waiting with urgent needs who could not be seen during the quarantine. At the start of the return, due to physical distancing requirements, there will still be restrictions on the number of patients we can see in the day.

We have all come to understand that physical distancing and proper screening are two of the keys to preventing the spread of COVID-19. With that, our protocols for patients coming to the practice will be adjusted as per the Ministry and College guidelines. This will include adjustments to our hours to allow for physical distancing and to help us provide care to those whose treatment had to be deferred.

One of the great aspects of providing your dental care is the personal connections we develop with you and your families. We sincerely hope that the current "barriers" we must put in place will not be long-lasting. Rest assured that our smiling faces are still under these masks!

We have carefully planned and revised our office procedures to greatly minimize any risk of infection from COVID-19. The following protocol will now be in place to provide a safe dental experience.

Day Before Your Appointment

  • You will be asked to complete the COVID-19 pre-screening forms either on a secure online form or over the phone 24 hours prior to each appointment.
  • We cannot proceed with the appointment without the pre-screening and screening process.

Everyone who enters the office will be pre-screened and screened upon arrival including your entire dental team who will be screened daily.

Upon Your Arrival at the Office

The Ministry has mandated that everyone entering the office wear a face covering(mask). As our medical masks are still in short supply, we appreciate you coming with your own face covering.

  • Please notify us by text, email or call when you have arrived and wait in your car or outside the office until your scheduled appointment time.
  • The office will text, call or email you when we are ready to do your screening.
  • Your screening will be repeated at the screening station just inside the door.
  • We will be taking your temperature.
  • ONLY scheduled patients will be allowed entry into the office unless a parent or caregiver is required. The parent or caregiver will also be screened.
  • We have hand sanitizer that we will ask you to use when you enter the office. There are more dispensers around the office for you to use as needed.
  • Our reception area will no longer offer magazines or children's toys since those items are difficult to fully disinfect. We have also discontinued coffee and water service.
  • The reception area chairs will be marked to allow for 6 feet of distancing.
  • We will ask that you continue to practice social distancing measures in common areas of the office at all times.
  • The public areas, including restrooms, will be cleaned and sanitized frequently throughout the day.
  • There will be no physical contact with patients with the exception of treatment.
  • Appointments will be spaced out to allow for physical distancing between patients. That might mean less flexibility for scheduling your appointment, but it will also reduce the number of patients in the reception area at any one time.

Any patients showing signs of a fever or other symptoms of illness will be asked to reschedule their appointment.

Your Treatment

  • AS ALWAYS, all rooms will be COMPLETELY sterilized before each patient is seated.
  • All operatories have high-volume air filtration and purification units. The units are capable of removing particles smaller than the COVID-19 virus.
  • Our team will STRICTLY follow guidelines set forth by CDC, the Ministry of Health and our dental governing bodies.
  • The dental team has all the required personal protective equipment (PPE) including appropriate masks, face shields, gowns and gloves.

Checking Out After Your Appointment

  • Clear panels will be in place at the front desk to protect against droplets exposure.
  • After every transaction, the checkout desk and payment terminal will be wiped with a disinfectant.
  • We will offer credit or debit payment upon completion at the front desk. You will also have the option to securely leave your payment card on file to allow for contactless payment.

We are proceeding with an abundance of caution, but we want you to feel as confident as we do that any visit you make to our office will, as always, be a safe one. Our outstanding administrative team has been developing systems to schedule your care as soon as we possibly can. We will contact you shortly to schedule your missed appointment or advise you on upcoming appointments.

If you have any questions, please let us know. Thank you for your patience and loyalty throughout this ordeal. We value your trust and look forward to welcoming you back!

Sincerely,

Drs. Trevor and Monica Muntwyler
