Inlays and Onlays in East Mississauga
When you have large areas of dental decay or breakdown of your teeth, your dentist may recommend an inlay or an onlay. Inlays and onlays are restorations that are fabricated in the dental lab. They are custom-made to fit the exact shape and size of the damaged or decayed space and are custom bonded to your tooth.
What Is the Difference Between Inlays, Onlays, and Fillings?
Fillings are used to repair teeth in a single visit using composite resin (plastic) or dental silver amalgam. Inlays and onlays are used to repair damaged teeth using laboratory fabricated composite, gold or porcelain material requiring two appointments, and are much stronger restorations.
Do You Need an Onlay or a Crown?
Every effort is made to preserve as much of your natural tooth as possible. Your dentist will determine the best course of treatment depending on the extent of decay or damage to your tooth.
